Joseph Scarallo, Jr. “Joey”

PERSONAL: The oldest of four siblings, Scarallo was born Nov. 29, 1978 in Adelaide, Australia to Joseph and Cindy Scarallo. Scarallo bills himself as a huge fan of the Australia V-8 Supercar Series and hopes to compete there someday. He Manages Autotrend Tire & Wheel Company Inc., his family's wheel importing business in Lindenhurst, N.Y.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Competed in the Trans-Am Series from 2003 until the present. In 1995, Scarallo became the youngest-ever Bertil Roos Formula Ford 2000 Series champion.

RACING HISTORY: A Trans-Am veteran, Scarallo Began racing karts in 1990 at age 11, thus beginning his reign over the Long Island Karting Association, where he won three championships in 1993. Scarallo has also won championships in the International Karting Federation. In 1996, Scarallo recorded three top-10 finishes in U.S. F2000 competition to finish 14th in series points. He ran a limited schedule in 1997, scoring 11th- and 12th-place finishes in his three starts. He also competed in Toyota Atlantic Series in 2000.

INTERESTING FACT: At the age of 13, Scarallo was diagnosed with a brain tumor. While bedridden and waiting for surgery, his childhood hero, three-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Winner Darrell Waltrip called him to wish him good luck. Scarallo reunited with Waltrip in 2003 at Infineon Raceway where Trans-Am raced along with NASCAR. Scarallo still talks to Waltrip to this day.
